Rumour Has It 2017 Tour
Queensland’s homegrown smash hit Adele show Rumour Has It returns to Brisbane in January for an epic encore, kick-starting a 38-date national tour.
Since its premiere in 2012, Rumour Has It has captured hearts across the country, receiving standing ovations and rave reviews at Australia’s premier venues and festivals including Sydney Opera House, Hamer Hall Melbourne, Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Queensland Theatre Company.
Now, following the show’s international debut at Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre in September, Australia’s ‘Adele’ Naomi Price returns home with a spectacular new version of the show, featuring Queensland’s chamber orchestra, the Camerata of St John’s (Camerata).
“This will be the most dazzling version of the show to date, with new songs from Adele’s latest record 25 and an incredible 19-piece live band,” 33-year-old Price said.
“I have always wanted to include strings in Rumour Has It – I’ve been saying for years that this would be the ultimate version of the show.
“But never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that we would secure a chamber orchestra like Camerata. For fans of the show, this is going to take the experience to a whole new level.”
Camerata Artistic Director Brendan Joyce said the group was excited to join the company for this special season exclusive to Brisbane.
“Naomi’s performance as Adele is a tour de force, garnering unanimous praise across the country and abroad. When The Little Red Company approached us to collaborate, we jumped at the opportunity,” Joyce said, revealing that he personally put his New Year’s holiday plans on hold to take part.
“Adele’s catalogue of hits is unrivalled in contemporary music with so many gorgeous ballads just perfect for an ensemble like ours. Camerata loves playing all kinds of genres; swapping Amadeus for Adele will be right up our alley.”
Camerata will join Price’s original 7-piece band, including vocalists Rachel Everett-Jones, Lai Utouvou, and Price’s partner Luke Kennedy. Following the Brisbane season, Rumour Has It will hit the road for a marathon tour, taking in 25 venues across five states.
Rumour Has It plays three performances only at Brisbane Powerhouse Friday 13 and Saturday 14 January, including a special all-ages matinee.
