Maitlohn completed his Masters of Music (Composing) at the Queensland Conservatorium as the recipient of the Griffith University Medal and since this time has pursued a career in arranging, Music Direction and Music Education.

After Music Directing over 30 professional musical theatre productions in the past two decades (Spamalot, Jesus Christ Superstar, Oklahoma – QPAC) Maitlohn has now shifted his attention to composing and works as an arranger for The Little Red Company (The Isolate Late Show, From Johnny to Jack, Christmas Actually). He is also the Head of Performing Arts at Northside Christian College.
